Is the PN cycle time configured on the device, or can it be adjusted by the PLC and this information is exchanged during start up?

Re: Is the PN cycle time configured on the device or can it be set by the PLC?
The configuration of the devices including the address information (Name of Station, IP), the topological interconnection and the update time are part of the controller project. To create this configuration, the controller manufacturer supplies a configuration tool, usually also called an engineering system. This is used to create the (target) hardware configuration, which is then transferred to the controller. The controller tries to find its devices (after startup) in the network using the target configuration, parameterizes them and checks whether, for example, the order numbers or firmware versions match the configuration.Webinar_Question wrote: ↑23 Jul 2024, 11:12 Is the PN cycle time configured on the device, or can it be adjusted by the PLC and this information is exchanged during start up?
Part of this configuration is the update time. This cannot be changed during the controller's runtime. The update time is defined in engineering and can be changed individually for each PROFINET device, e.g. slow for WiFi, isochronous mode for Motion Control, etc.
