Security Class 1 includes
  • advanced network management (SNMP) configuration capabilities: SNMP is disabled by default; SNMP access can be enabled persistently by the owner/operator (with configuration options for SNMP community names and the access operations allowed)
  • advanced device discovery and configuration (DCP) configuration capabilities: DCP set operations are enabled by default and can be disabled by the owner/operator for the lifetime of an AR
  • cryptographic device description (GSD) signing: Device vendor cryptographically signs GSD file to ensure file authenticity & integrity
There is no cryptographic protection of PROFINET communication with Security Class 1.
