I would like some advice about the PROFIdrive Profile Specification (document name: PROFIdrive_3172_V42_Oct15.pdf).
Table 186, "Parameter Access Mode (PAP) Definition" (page 271 of 289), of this document lists the MAP indexes.
I am currently experiencing issues with the record data specification for INDEX 0xBF00 in this specification.
The document states that the description for INDEX 0xBF00 is "Reserved for further definition." This means that it is reserved for other purposes in PROFIdrive.
I am looking for information to accurately understand the record data specification for INDEX 0xBF00.
My goal is to develop a device that supports the Encoder Profile.
When parameters related to the PROFIdrive Profile (including the Encoder Profile) are defined using the GSDML definition, the SIEMENS sequencer (S7-1500 series) sends record data for 0xBF00 at system startup.
The specifications for this record data are not explained in detail in the individual PROFINET specifications.
I believe there may be other requirements besides the 0xBF00 record data, so I am searching for related documentation.
Given the above situation, if you know of any locations where documents other than PI are stored, please let me know.
Thank you in advance.
Regarding specifications not described in the documents PROFIdrive Profile(Encoder Profile)
Re: Regarding specifications not described in the documents PROFIdrive Profile(Encoder Profile)
Data record 0xBF00 has some relationship to the history of the ENCODER profile. In former ENCODER profile versions (15 years ago) the data record 0xBF00 was defined in the profile for a standardized PRM record. Therefore some encoder products with historic roots still use this data record for their PRM. Later on the record 0xBF00 was discarded from the ENCODER profile because this isn't an interoperability issue and therefore not a topic for standardization. Now the PRM is a vendor specific thing and every vendor can choose his own (vendor specific) data record for PRM and also can design his own PRM structure/content. Because the vendor specific range for PROFINET data records is from 1 to 0x7FFF, for new encoder developments it is expected that the vendor places his PRM inside this range and describes his PRM record accordingly in his GSD (see clause 9.4 on page 106 of the ENCODER profile specification). For those vendors who still have their products on the market over the last decades, it is still tolerated to use the profile specific data record 0xBF00. Therefore data record 0xBF00 will not be used for profile specific definitions in the future (which is still not mentioned in this PROFIdrive table 168).S.Ogura wrote: ↑17 Feb 2026, 05:51 I would like some advice about the PROFIdrive Profile Specification (document name: PROFIdrive_3172_V42_Oct15.pdf).
