MRP Interop - Client (CLRPC) test question

Hello,

I've put together the pieces required to run this test, one of the last before shipping for official certification.

Read what I found about it, so my test setup mimics Figure 5-21 from PROFINET Test Specification. Only difference is, my 'b' device is a XC208 rather than X204IRT; don't think that matters for this specific test.

IP addresses are exactly the ones required, and my dut is configured to exchange 1 input and 1 output words. All leds are green and PLC is in Run mode without errors. 'a' device is set to manager (Media Redundancy role in TIA) and all others are clients. Ethernet ports are naturally configured as Ring Ports. Program loaded in the PLC was based on the example TestProject found in the test bundle.

BUT, when I try to run the test, it fails with the "No response received." message. From the log file (attached) and understood the Read Implicit message sent by the ETS was not replied by the dut. And the subslot 0x8000 applies to the DAP. It might be something silly, but I'm failing to grasp.

So now I am wondering if everything is really set correctly in my setup.

Appreciate any hint to fix this and move forward with the certification.

Best Regards,
Luciano

Hello,
the attached wireshark trace only shows, that the implicit reads are not responded by the DuT. Please check if the IP address of your DuT is really 192.168.0.50. In case implicit reads are not working at all, a lot of other test cases would fail as well.

best regards,
Raik

Hello Raik,

Indeed, except that all other tests are performed fine. PRONETA shows settings are correct. Have double checked PLC test project and don't see anything odd. And with this topology I'm able to ping all devices.

Perhaps I am not interpreting the test procedure correctly. For this test, PLC (device 'a') must start switched off, right? Then switch it on when the pop-up message appears. Running out of ideas.

Best Regards,
Luciano.

Hello there,

are there any solutions for this topic? I have the exact same problem.

I only had an older TIA-Portal version and was not able to open the delivered projects of test bundle. Therefore, I've created a TIA portal project with the corresponding topology, device names and IP-addresses. The overview in PRONETA is exactly the same as shown.

Are there any hints on how to proceed with the tests?

Thanks!

you can download and install any version of TIA Portal from Siemens free of charge. The download version even provides a 21 day trial license. Doing so will allow you to open (and use) the provided project at least for a short period of time. Maybe that helps finding differences between your setup and expected one.
