The implementation of PROFIdrive for a PROFINET drive is optional. It's in the decision of the device manufacturer if he offers an interoperable PROFIdrive interface for his drive device or not. Of cause without the implementation of PROFIdrive it's not possible to connect to standard motion controllers using PROFIdrive as interoperable drive interface.
E.g. PROFIdrive support is necessary to use Motion TOs on a SIMATIC controller.

Here you will find some example implementations with source code for a PROFIdrive device, PROFIdrive controller and Encoder device. The community project shows adaptions of the PROFIdrive source code to different PROFINET stacks. Also helpfull may be the PROFIdrive implementation guide offering information for the planning and architecture of a PROFIdrive implementation.
