Is this GSDX file required at this level and what would be the benefit for our customers?

I work for a company that sells robotic accessories. Our customers communicate with our devices via PROFINET and we currently provide them with GSDML files. Is this GSDX file required at this level? What would be the benefit to our customers if we were to propose such a GSDX file? As I understand it, this GSDX file will protect users from using an "authentic" file with the correct format and content of the file provided by the manufacturer, but is there anything to do with "more secure/encrypted" communication?

If your device claims compliance with security class 1, it must support GSDX files. It protects the contained GSDML file from unwanted changes and allows the verifier to associate the origin of a GSDX file with its creator.
GSDML files are not encrypted. To secure communication between devices, security class 2/3 must be used.
