Starting with Test Bundle V2.45.0 in August 2025 it will be possible to certify also virtual Controller and Devices. In a first step, the virtual instance must support everything according to the chosen Conformance Class, what a “non-virtual” needs to support. So, the reference hardware must be capable of supporting e.g. LLDP, offering a network interface to connect to the test system and reach the defined timing accuracy.
Maybe this will be adapted in the future, in case the PROFINET specification will define different feature sets for virtual instances.
